Our Staff
Our staff at Hillesley Primary are passionate about teaching and learning. We are fortunate to have a body of experienced teaching staff who work as a team to ensure children receive an exceptional education.

Lucy Chandler
Mrs Chandler has been our Head Teacher since 2022. She has many years’ experience in teaching the primary age range. At Hillesley, Mrs Chandler leads RE and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education) and teaches across the school so she gets to know each child very well.
Mrs Chandler enjoys walking, running, singing and amateur dramatics.

Kim england
Mrs England is a qualified Nursery Nurse and specialises in early years. She has worked as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at Hillesley for 26 years! Her creative talents are invaluable in Class 1 where our curriculum benefits from her wonderful displays and inventive home-corners. She is a paediatric first aider and lunchtime supervisor.
In her spare time, she works at a centre for children with special needs and also looks after a young adult with Down’s Syndrome on a regular basis.

KS1 Teacher
Mrs King is a Foundaton Stage Specialist and our KS1 teacher. She has been working as a KS1 teacher for 32 years in a wide variety of schools.
Mrs King is the Early Years leader and coordinates art, design and technology and modern foreign languages.
Previously to Hillesley Mrs King lived and worked in New Zealand where she taught Reception, and one of the skills she learned was how to count to ten in Maori! During her free time Mrs King enjoys spending time with her family, particularly cycling and walking.


Sarah carter
KS2 Teacher
Mrs Carter teaches science, history and geography in KS2. She is also our fabulous music specialist, teaching children across the school or a range of instruments.
Jayne homer
Teaching Assistant
Mrs Homer is a Teaching Assistant who supports children in Class 1. She is also a Lunchtime Supervisor.
annette booth
KS2 Teacher & SENCO
Mrs Annette Booth is our SENCO and she teaches Year 3/4 in the mornings.
Mrs Booth trained at Bath Spa University as a mature student and has experience teaching across the primary phase, with a focus on key stage 2.
Mrs Booth is married and has two daughters who are both at secondary school. She enjoys cooking, singing and walking in the countryside with her family and dog, Lola! Mrs Booth‘s favourite book of all time is Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen and her favourite children’s novel is Clockwork by Philip Pullman. She is also a red belt in karate and has run several half marathons!

Administrator
Mrs Katharine Jones is our administrator. She works in the office Mon to Fri (except Tues afternoons).

Joshua whitbread
Mr Whitbread is a qualified teacher who assists across the school with English maths and computing. He trained at the University of Worcester, specialising in History. He runs our homework club, and
he is a Paediatric First Aider.
Outside of school he enjoys reading and playing cricket.

KS2 Teacher
Mrs Cooper trained as a mature student at the University of the West of England, where she specialised in English. At Hillesley, she is the subject leader for English and maths. She has been teaching at Hillesley for 13 years.
Mrs Cooper is married and has twin children at university. Her favourite novel is ‘A Passage to India’, by EM Forster, and her favourite children’s novel is ‘The Graveyard Book’, by Neil Gaiman. Interestingly, Mrs Cooper has a useless talent for quoting large sections of the dialogue from the 1979 Star Wars film!
Teaching Assistant
Mrs Sarah Gregory is a teaching assistant in Class 2 and also supports a child with SEN. She is a Paediatric First Aider and lunchtime supervisor.
Mrs Gregory loves all kinds of arts & crafts, including painting, drawing and sewing. She enjoys walking in the woods and growing fruit and vegetables in her garden.

Mrs Anna Read is our Finance Administrator and she works on Thursdays.
Mrs Tracy Marshall runs our breakfast club from 7.45 until 8.45am each day.
