Head Teacher

Mrs Pedley is our Head Teacher who also teaches in KS2. She has been teaching at the school for 12 years and before coming to Hillesley, she taught in a variety of schools in Cardiff, London and Manchester.
Mrs Pedley is our SENCo (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) and she also leads Maths, PE and PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education).

Mrs Pedley enjoys sport and having grown up in Wales, she loves rugby! In her spare time Mrs Pedley enjoys dancing and does Salsa and Zumba to keep fit. She also enjoys reading and writing poetry and listening to all kinds of music, particularly if a good guitar riff is included!

Vicky Cooper

Teacher

Mrs Cooper trained as a mature student at the University of the West of England, where she specialised in English. At Hillesley, she is the subject leader for English, history and geography. She is also the subject leader and main teacher for religious education.
Although she teaches mainly in our junior classes, she sometimes migrates down the corridor to the infant classroom in the afternoon!

Mrs Cooper is married and has twin children at a local secondary school. Her favourite novel is ‘A Passage to India’, by EM Forster, and her favourite children’s novel is ‘The Graveyard Book’, by Neil Gaiman. Interestingly, Mrs Cooper has a useless talent for quoting large sections of the dialogue from the 1979 Star Wars film!

KS1 Teacher

Mrs King is a Foundaton Stage Specialist and our KS1 teacher. She has been working as a KS1 teacher for 24 years in a wide variety of schools.
Mrs King is the Early Years leader and coordinates art, design and technology and modern foreign languages.

Previously to Hillesley Mrs King lived and worked in New Zealand where she taught Reception, and one of the skills she learned was how to count to ten in Maori! During her free time Mrs King enjoys spending time with her family, particularly cycling and walking.

Teaching Assistant

Mrs England is a qualified Nursery Nurse and specialises in early years, and has worked as Teaching Assistant at Hillesley for 16 years! Her creative talents are invaluable in Class 1 where our curriculum benefits from her wonderful displays and inventive home-corners, which have to be seen to be believed.
She is our paediatric first aider, breakfast club co-ordinator and lunchtime supervisor.

In her spare time she works at a centre for children with special needs and also looks after a 13 year old down syndrome child on a regular basis.

Gill Wild

Teaching Assistant & Lunchtime Supervisor

Mrs Wild is a Teaching Assistant (KS2) & Lunchtime Supervisor who has worked at 3 different schools during the past 18 years, including a Welsh Medium school on Anglesey. She has had experience working with all year groups. Mrs Wild is our Eco-Schools co-ordinator and is very proud that the school has obtained the green flag award twice.

With the help of Mr Darlow and pupils, Mrs Wild looks after our allotment in the village, which is always very popular. Outside of school she enjoys making greetings cards, gardening, caravanning and motor biking (as the pillion passenger).

KS2 teaching Assistant

Mrs Hemming is a Teaching Assistant in KS2, who has been with us for a number of years. She delivers one to one support sessions for specific children.
Her artistic talents are put to good use for special art projects around the school.

Office Administrator

Mrs Hardwick is our Office Administrator, and is the person to speak to if you’d like to know anything about school events, dinners or uniform!

She has recently become a grandmother for the first time.

Supply Teacher

Mrs Chappell is a key member of our supply team. She covers as a TA, Midday supervisor and cleaner when needed.

In her spare time she enjoys gardening, sewing and baking.

Joshua Whitbread

KS2 Supply Teacher

Mr Whitbread is our Key Stage 2 supply teacher. He trained at the University of Worcester specialising in History.

Outside of school he enjoys reading and playing cricket.
